The timer merchant

Real wood is like good wine or cognac: It needs time to ma ture. Janua works with Mike Kriwet to plan the procurement, treatment, drying and storage of its most valuable commodity years in advance — ours is a close collaboration built on unconditional trust. This long-standing cooperation has long since grown into a friendship between Mike Kriwet and Janua boss Christian Seisenberger — thanks in no small part to their shared values and views on sustainability, perhaps most notably reflected in a shared passion: They plant trees together.

More than just securing the quantities of wood - for us, sustainability describes how people treat the forests. The rule is: do not fell more trees than can grow back. We have taken this rule to heart and therefore pay attention to an environmentally friendly handling of our forests. Today, we understand sustainable forest management to be much more than simply securing the supply of wood. It is much more about the importance and use of forests in a way that maintains their biodiversity, productivity, regeneration capacity and vitality.
